I’m a designer, technologist and educator with a background in architecture, working across spatial, digital and immersive media.

My practice explores how complex systems, from the built environment to cultural knowledge and medical data, can be translated into spatial, sensory experiences that support understanding, care and public engagement.

Through data-driven workflows, spatial capture and collaborative research, I work with scientists, curators, communities and educators to make the unseen perceptible and meaningful. I’m particularly interested in the shared experiential ground between sensory digital storytelling, art, computing and the built environment.

I currently hold the position of Experimental Technology Coordinator at the NExT Lab Accelerator, Melbourne School of Design, The University of Melbourne.

The Ghost of Grainger

2022
Melbourne Design Week
Point Cloud Audio-Reactive animation, 3D Printed and CNC-milled Sculpture

Part of Melbourne Design Week 2022, a collaboration between the Victorian Government and the NGV, Sounding Grainger is an ambitious project that will require the visitor to reflect on new and different ways of imagining gallery spaces.

Sydney Miller’s composition is a multi-channel soundscape inspired by, and in response to, the physical architecture of the building and video composition. The visual peice is an audio-reactive point cloud animation based off a lidar scan of the building that react’s to Miller’ sound composition.

<description>Voices of Country2020Ars Electronica: In Keplar's Gardens Festival

360 VR film from 3D Lidar Scanning and Unreal Engine

This VR 360 degree film is set in the rural landscape of the Dja Dja Wurrung in southern Australia. The project tells stories of the land from different perspectives, allowing the audience to move through the site by engaging in a VR environment.&#38;nbsp; The audience traverses three different settings: the pre-colonial forest, the colonial farm, and the post-colonial farmland envisioned for a utopian future.
Artists: Dr. Rochus Hinkel with Tony Yu and Melissa Iraheta (NExT LAB)-
Film development: Tony Yu and Melissa raheta
